Patience, young man. Patience.

I pride myself on keeping things organized. Being the most prepared person in the room. I feel as if since I may not be naturally as organized as the average person, I can over-prepare to make up for it. I’ve found that to be successful.

We were prepping for a trip last week and I flat out neglected my preparation. It was a short trip and for some reason I thought I could just do it last minute since it was only a few items. My God I fucked it up.

This was the first time I’ve ever left my backpack behind. No laptop, no medications, and much more. Man, was I frustrated.

It happened because I had to accelerate through other processes that normally needed more time. Sure enough, messing with my rhythm completely left me vulnerable to mistakes.

I then made subsequent mistakes.

I believe I got “high” on myself. Thought that since I came off a long travel streak this was just child’s play. Well, it may have been childs play but it still required a certain amount of preparation.

I did not allot the necessary amount of preparation.

The good news is, I didn’t have any collateral damage. Easy to make that the reason why I repeat a sloppy preparation in the future.

Not going to do that. Hell no.

What it really comes down to, at least for me, is patience. Slow things down.

I’ve got a lot going on which is making it easy for me to make excuses about how much time I have to prepare. That’s bullshit.

Choose how you spend your time, young man. This is not rocket science.

Follow the process. Do it each and every time.

Of course, as always, you’re invited to join me.

Have a great week.
