“Que Bueno Conocerte”

On Friday I arrived in Bogota, Colombia. I am here, along with Phil, to meet our team that we’ve been working with for the better part of two years. We now have team members across South America, Philippines, and North America.

Last year, we visited Manilla and the surrounding areas. This year, it’s time to go to Colombia.

With regards to building a team around the world…

For many, it’s hard to understand. Hard to fathom. But, it really shouldn’t be.

Post a job on one of the remote worker websites, sift through the candidates, and hire what we hope to be a great fit.

Lucky for us, we have continued to build on a winning process and have invaluable team members in multiple countries.

But even with that, it’s hard to find special people.

Insert a guy named Sebastian. Sebastian was not your normal candidate. Phil gave me a call one day and told me this guy was a restaurant owner but things went sideways during Covid. He told me he really liked him and wanted to hire him.

I pushed back. Phil, are you sure? This doesn’t sounds like the guy.

“Yes, I’m sure. I think he is a great fit.” – Phil

No further qualification necessary. If I ask a second time and he is still sure, then I’m in.

So, fast forward to the trip itself. You just never know how things are going to go. Phil works closest with Sebastian and they’re like brothers at this point so I assumed it would go well.

This guy and everyone he connected us with blew me away. I know very little Spanish and told him I am pretty uncomfortable but as long as he wants to help, I can’t wait to learn.

Every question answered with genuine care and desire to help.

I was able to find a quote, in Spanish, that represented how I feel.

It does me well to know you.

Que bueno conocerte. I put my hand across my heart when I said it. It was an awesome moment.

Everything about Colombia has been incredible and has rejuvenated my desire to serve the people I work with.

Self serving, and battling narcissism, is a constant battle for me. Dark battles stemming from my insecurities and childhood. I already have plenty, and I can produce so much more to improve the lives of others. Sebastian reminded me of that on Sunday.

He was asked a question and started to go through a process that I taught him. He went through it in such detail that I started to become overwhelmed. I had no clue he knew it so well and had been practicing to that degree. I couldn’t hold back my tears as I heard him educate others around him.

That’s the respect I want on my name.

The Jurgella name.

I worked hard to help others improve their lives and do the same for others.

Lucky for me, I get to spend the rest of the week with 13 team members including Sebastian.

Needless to say, I can’t wait.

Have a fantastic week and make sure you tell someone you know and love…

Que bueno conocerte. 💗
