Character Building in Cali

Well, that was a week.

My sleep issues continued for 15 days straight until Friday and Saturday night. Back to back eight hour nights with green recoveries.

I woke up Saturday and literally felt like a completely different person.

Most importantly, I want to shout out Elizabeth for her push on Friday. Thursday evening I slept terribly, and the previous two weeks of shitty sleep had caught up with me.

She pushed me to eat clean and no drinks even though we had a fun afternoon and dinner planned where I would love a beer or three.

She pushed me a few times, and I listened, which set me up for a great weekend of sleep. That gesture was appreciated more than I can express.

I love a good accountability partner! Thank you, dear.

This was Brian’s (Sales Director) final week. I flew in Brad, our new sales lead, to Houston to get a few days with me under his belt.

He did well. That was something I needed to see, and I’m confident he is ready to conquer this upcoming week riding mostly solo.

Shoutout to Brian for being a class act on his way out. We had plenty of disagreements and arguments over the past two years, and I think we both realized we are much better because of them.

I’m looking forward to having a great relationship with him in the future. Thank you, Brian.

I had a lot of fun this past week, with my nervous system clearly pushing back. As the week progressed, I learned more about our sales operation each day.

If you’re looking to get a department, their documents, and their SOP’s organized, you do NOT want to hand it to me.

That is precisely what was handed to me over the last two weeks. That shit will stress me out real quick.

This is, in general, not how my brain works. I can work through it, and I am, but what someone can do in an hour will take me four.

Thank God for my assistant, Leonor, who does this stuff pretty well.

Today starts our first week without Brian, and we’re off to a decent start so looking forward to my writing next week.

Thinking through last week, I was not in a good mental state for much of the week. I kept my shit together, but I wasn’t in a great spot… Again.

My house renovation project went sideways, then went sideways a second time, and then finally we ended the week with a third issue. Spent an extra $8,200, then an extra $9,400, and then finished with a nice little $1,800.

A little foundation issue, a massive six inch clay pipe going through the center of my back yard below ground which needs to be moved, and then the AC needing to be moved and jacked up in the air.

Just like that, $20,000 was gone. Once I got done being frustrated, I remembered that it is what it is and to get back to work to make more money. No amount of bitching and moaning is going to help ANYTHING.

Shoutout to my business partner and dear friend Chris for making runs to my house to dump out the dehumidifiers as my house ran at 97 degrees. You are a good man, sir!

On to my travels to Orange County.

The highlight of my week was a dinner with Elizabeth and her grandmother, Carolyn.

First of all, she reminds me so much of my mom. I could listen to her talk all night, and that’s much of what we did that evening. She is also SHARP as hell, which is impressive for 82 years old.

I got to watch her interact with Elizabeth and see Elizabeth’s love and affection come out as I’ve never seen before.

It was resonance in its purest form. I really felt completely at peace being in their presence.

There were multiple moments in a three hour dinner that made my heart feel full of love and joy. Most of those moments were in witness of a grandma and granddaughter sharing their appreciation for one another.

There was a moment where Elizabeth went to the bathroom and Carolyn, whom I’m now going to call “Grams”, shared some wisdom and kind words with me.

I hold those close to my heart and feel heavy as I recall them. I miss my mom and my grandparents.

In closing, the best thing I can do for Elizabeth is plan our next trip to see Carolyn. She lost her husband just over a year ago, and no one needs her more than Carolyn.

I’m confident we can get to her in the next few months. It would be my pleasure.

There’s a lot going on, and a lot will be discovered this week in Bogota. This is a week where I actually had a lot more to write about but was a bit tired and just stopped writing.

I am excited to see my teammates and work hard on our future together.

That’s really it for now. I’m feeling a lot but I have to say I don’t really know what I’m feeling at the moment.

 Forward. Con Toda.
