This week started just as it was supposed to, a great trip to DFW to see some of our favorite dealers. But, it quickly took an ugly turn on Tuesday evening. As I was sitting with my colleagues, Phil and Jace I received a phone call from Kyle. “Hey man, just wanted to let you know your dad just called an ambulance. I’m on the way to the house. It sounds like he hasn’t really been eating or sleeping for days.”

Started off the week with a special meeting that’s been a long time coming mixed with a little watch show for The Heights Luxury Watch Company with my cousin. First of all, my dear friend Mike Mynatt. We started working together years ago (back in 2017) and it’s been a half dozen years since we last partnered up. Well, fast forward to last week and we’re on track to be working together again. Mike is a wonderful person, a great supporter of my journey, and a great car dealer.

I spent the first part of the week working with my dad at the house trying to get things in order. I cherished each day with my father in a different way. My lens is different now. My dad is the last parent standing. He’s my guy. I’ll do whatever he needs me to do. (Sometimes I bitch a little but I’ll do whatever chore he needs me to do regardless.)

This week was scheduled to be a week in California with Elizabeth's family. Those plans changed just moments before getting in our Uber to the airport. My fathers name popped up on my phone…
